Kenneth Branagh’s Poirot will return in ‘Murder On The Orient Express’ movie follow-up

Murder On The Orient Express is currently making a killing at the box office and 20th Century Fox is apparently keen for more.

Based on Agatha Christie’s classic murder mystery novel, the movie is directed by Kenneth Branagh, who also appears on-screen as detective Hercule Poirot.

The all-star cast also includes Penélope Cruz, Willem Dafoe, Judi Dench, Johnny Depp, Josh Gad, Derek Jacobi, Leslie Odom Jr., Michelle Pfeiffer and Daisy Ridley.

Murder On The Orient Express has so far taken nearly $160m worldwide and the 20th Century Fox has hired the film’s writer, Michael Green, to write a screenplay adapting Christie’s Death On The Nile.

Although no deal has yet been confirmed, they’re also hoping to entice back Kenneth Branagh to direct and star in the Murder On The Orient Express sequel.

Death On The Nile, originally published in 1937, was previously adapted into a highly successful movie in 1978, starring Maggie Smith, Bette Davis, Mia Farrow and Angela Lansbury.
