First look at Benedict Cumberbatch and Claire Foy’s new period drama ‘Louis Wain’
Claire Foy and Benedict Cumberbatch have started filming a new movie together.
Sherlock actor Cumberbatch is playing famous painter Louis Wain, alongside The Crown star Foy as his wife, Emily.
Louis Wain will tell “the extraordinary true story of a brilliant man inspired by both his love of the world and the love of his life Emily.”
Born in London in 1860, Wain was best known for his artworks featuring anthropomorphized large-eyed cats and kittens.
The English artist died in 1939, having suffered from schizophrenia in his later years.
Directed by Will Sharpe, Louis Wain began filming last month and the movie is expected to arrive in cinemas towards the end of 2020.
The cast also includes Adeel Akhtar (Les Miserables), Julian Barratt (The Mighty Boosh) and Asim Chaudhry (Black Mirror: Bandersnatch), alongside Stacy Martin, Sharon Rooney, Hayley Squires and Aimee Lou Wood as Wain’s eccentric sisters.
The Crown returns to Netflix later this year with a new season, but Claire Foy has been replaced as Queen Elizabeth II.
Benedict Cumberbatch can next be seen in World War I movie 1917.
The Crown is available to buy on DVD on Amazon.
