‘Outlander’ stars’ road trip series ‘Men in Kilts’ returns for Season 2

Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish are embarking on another road trip for Starz.

Men in Kilts: A Roadtrip with Sam and Graham first aired in February 2021.

The eight-part documentary series saw Outlander actors Heughan and McTavish – best known as Jamie Fraser and Dougal Mackenzie in the historical fantasy drama – head out on a road trip together around Scotland.

Described as “two blokes on the adventure of a lifetime,” Men in Kilts was a hit for Starz and we can now confirm that a second season is on the way!

This time Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish will be travelling around New Zealand.

The six brand new episodes will see the Outlander duo take in the Scottish influence of New Zealand, while diving into its own history.

Taking part in a fun announcement video, Heughan said: “We had such a fantastic time on Men in Kilts Season 1 – a big thanks to everyone that watched that season – we’re going to do it again!”

McTavish added: “We’re going to do it this time in a place that I love dearly … we’re going to be enjoying ourselves in the footsteps of the Scottish immigrants that went there in the early 19th Century, and finding all things Kiwi, and finding out why it is the Scotland of the Southern Hemisphere.”

Men in Kilts was based on an original idea by Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish, and once again they’ll also be executive producers on the series.

The first season of Men in Kilts took viewers from the heart of Scotland at Glencoe, the site of a great massacre and major clan feud to Inverness and the Culloden battlefield, the site of a great battle and historic turning point, known well to fans of Outlander, that molded Scotland as we know it today.

Season 2 wrapped filming in New Zealand in February, and it’s expected to premiere on Starz later this year.

Sam Heughan will also be publishing his “deeply personal” memoir soon.

Outlander is available to watch free with a 7-day trial of Starz on Amazon Prime Video.
