‘Miss Scarlet and The Duke’ renewed for a fifth season but…
Masterpiece and PBS has confirmed that the ever popular series will return for a fifth season, but will be retitled ‘Miss Scarlet’. This major change has occurred following lead actor, Stuart Martin’s decision to step down from his role of William ‘The Duke’ Wellington after four years of adventures and sleuthing.
What about Eliza?
Kate Philips (The Crown, Wolf Hall) will return as the eponymous Miss Scarlet, along with a number of the cast regulars, including Cathy Belton as Ivy, Evan McCabe as Detective Fitzroy, Felix Scott as Patrick Nash, Paul Bazely as Clarence, Simon Ludders as Mr. Potts, and Tim Chipping as Detective Phelps.
In a statement from Masterpiece, Executive Producer Susanne Simpson says, “This new chapter in Eliza’s story is going to bring our audience more of what they’ve come to love about this series – mystery, humor, potential romance and most of all, Kate Phillips’ terrific performance as Miss Scarlet.
Listen to Stuart Martin, together with writers Rachael New and Ben Edwards, talk about the massive change that is underway and what is in store for the future of the show.
