‘Miss Scarlet and The Duke’ return date confirmed – watch the trailer for Season 2!
PBS has announced when the second season of Miss Scarlet and The Duke begins.
The period crime drama launched in the UK in 2020, and became a huge hit in the US on Sunday nights last year, bringing in 8 million viewers on PBS.
Miss Scarlet and The Duke stars English actress Kate Phillips (Wolf Hall, The Crown) as Eliza Scarlet, the fictional first ever female detective in 1800s London.
A second season began filming in Belgrade, Serbia last summer and fans don’t have too much longer to wait for the show’s return!
Miss Scarlet and The Duke creator Rachael New previously promised “even more action, adventure and of course a nice big dollop of romance” in this year’s episodes.
Season 2 will see Eliza Scarlet continue to grow her private detective firm with the somewhat reluctant help of her friend (or more-than-friend?) police detective William “The Duke” Wellington.
Kate Phillips (The Crown, Wolf Hall) and Stuart Martin (Jamestown) are both reprising their roles as the titular pair.
We can now officially reveal that Miss Scarlet and the Duke will be back in the US this autumn as part of PBS’s upcoming Masterpiece Mystery season.
Season 2 will premiere at 8/7c on Sunday 16th October on PBS.
2022’s Masterpiece Mystery season also includes brand new episodes of Endeavour, Grantchester, and more.

Miss Scarlet and the Duke airs on Alibi in the UK, but we don’t have a confirmed air date yet.
Teasing what to expect in Season 2, writer Rachael New told PBS last year: “I’m really looking forward to this season even more than Season 1 because I know what works—I know what people have loved: focusing on the fun.”
She explained: “If you look through Twitter, it’s astonishing the amount of love there is for the show. I’m not sure many fans have mentioned the detective stories, and that’s the stuff you labor over, so that’s been interesting.”
New hinted: “Yes, there will always be a crime of the week, but the most important aspect of the show is what those crimes throw up to our main characters—the problems, the dilemmas, the obstacles. I think that’s what people have invested in.”
Miss Scarlet and The Duke is available on DVD on Amazon.
