What is this series about?

After the shocking events of Magpie Murders, Susan Ryeland has moved to Crete with her boyfriend Andreas. However her peaceful life on the island is short-lived when Susan finds herself drawn to investigate a mystery from the past.

Alan Conway, Susan’s difficult former author, once visited a British hotel where a murder had taken place and later wrote a novel based on what happened there. On reading it, Cecily Treherne, who helped manage the hotel, came to the conclusion that the wrong man was behind bars.

When Cecily goes missing, Susan is tasked to investigate her disappearance and identify the real killer, who is cryptically referenced in the book.
