New on BritBox in the US: What’s added in October 2023?
Some brilliant British television shows are coming to BritBox in the US this October.
The streaming service kicks off autumn with Payback, a brand new original six-part crime thriller from the makers of Line of Duty, the true crime drama The Sixth Commandment, a recent UK hit for the BBC starring Timothy Spall.
There’s also another chance to catch Tom Hiddleston’s amazing adaptation of The Night Manager if you missed it back in 2016.
Then all five seasons of supernatural comedy-drama Being Human will land just in time for Halloween, featuring a young Aidan Turner from Poldark as a vampire!

The Sixth Commandment (available from 4 October 2023)
The Sixth Commandment tells the story of how the meeting of an inspirational teacher, Peter Farquhar (Timothy Spall, Hatton Garden Heist), and a charismatic young student, Ben Field (Éanna Hardwicke, Normal People), who bonded over their love of books and involvement with the Church of England, set the stage for one of the most complex and confounding criminal cases in recent memory.
Lost in Austen (available from 10 October 2023)
A twist on Jane Austen’s classic novel sees disillusioned modern working girl Amanda Price ‘swap’ her life for Austen’s celebrated heroine, Elizabeth Bennet.
Trapped in the unfolding fiction, Amanda must try her utmost to fit in among the Bennets, Bingleys and Darcys, but her presence in the characters’ lives sets unforeseen complications in motion.
The Night Manager (available from 12 October 2023)
In this contemporary interpretation of John le Carré’s best-selling spy novel, The Night Manager follows hotel manager Jonathan Pine (Tom Hiddleston, Loki) in his quest to bring down international arms dealer Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie, Why Didn’t They Ask Evans?).
Pine, a former soldier, is thrust into a world of international intrigue when he is recruited by a British intelligence officer (Olivia Colman, The Favourite) to infiltrate Roper’s inner circle.
To get to the heart of Roper’s vast empire, Pine must withstand the allure of his beautiful girlfriend Jed (Elizabeth Debicki, The Crown) and the suspicious interrogations of his venal chief of staff Major Corkoran (Tom Hollander, Rev). In his quest to do the right thing, Pine must first become a criminal himself.
Code Blue Murder – Season 2 (available from 12 October 2023)
With extraordinary access to the detectives of the South Wales Police Major Crime team, Code Blue takes viewers to the heart of major murder investigations, following the twists and turns of complex inquiries and the impact on victims’ families and friends.
We get inside the minds of detectives as they make life changing decisions and build the case in their quest for justice.
The Thief, His Wife and The Canoe: The Real Story (available from 16 October 2023)
The bizarre true story – recently brought to life in the hit BritBox drama – of fraudster John Darwin, who faked his own death in a canoeing accident to escape financial trouble, before attempting to start a new life with his wife, Anne, in Panama.
This Farming Life – Season 6 (available from 17 October 2023)
Not just a job, a way of life. This warm, compelling series weaves intimate personal stories with the dramatic events that make up life on a farm, with families carving out a living in some of Britain’s most beautiful landscapes.
Payback (available from 19 October 2023)
Starring Morven Christie (The Bay) and Peter Mullan (Mum), the six-part crime thriller tells the story of a woman who becomes entangled in a police investigation into a dangerous crime lord.
Created by Debbie O’Malley, whose writing credits include Call the Midwife, Humans and Harlots, the drama is produced by Jed Mercurio’s HTM Television, with the Line of Duty showrunner also acting as an executive producer.
The six-part crime thriller follows Lexie Noble (Christie), who gets mixed up in a perilous police operation to bring down a notorious crime lord, Cal Morris (Mullan).
With an idyllic family lifestyle in the suburbs of Edinburgh, Lexie is unaware her husband, Jared, has been laundering Cal Morris’ illegal earnings on a vast scale.
Jared’s every move is being monitored by financial investigators DC Jibran Khan (Prasanna Puwanarajah, Ten Percent) and DCI Adam Guthrie (Derek Riddell, Happy Valley), who are determined to use the Noble family to bring Cal Morris to justice.
Flowers – Seasons 1-2 (available from 21 October 2023)
Starring Olivia Colman, this dark, imaginative comedy follows the eccentric and dysfunctional members of the Flowers family.
Maurice, author of a children’s book series, and his wife, Deborah, a music teacher, have a troubled relationship. Maurice struggles with inner demons and dark secrets, while Deborah becomes increasingly suspicious that Maurice is in a secret relationship with Shun, the man who illustrates Maurice’s books.
The couple are parents to 25-year-old maladjusted twins, who are both competing for the attention of a neighbour.
Rebus – Seasons 2-4 (available from 27 October 2023)
Based on the novels by Ian Rankin, this gritty crime drama stars Laurence and Olivier Award winner Ken Stott (The Hobbit) as gruff Scottish detective John Rebus.
The world-weary policeman investigates the grisly crimes that mar Edinburgh’s historic streets in these sharply written and intricately plotted mysteries.
Being Human – Seasons 1-5 (available from 30 October 2023)
Multi award-winning supernatural drama Being Human follows the lives of three twentysomethings and their secret double lives – as a werewolf, a vampire and a ghost.
