New ‘Outlander’ Season 5 trailer: ‘Stand for love. Stand for hope. Stand for history.’

Starz has released another trailer for the new season of Outlander.

12 brand new episodes of the historical fantasy drama began shooting in Scotland last Spring, based on the fifth book in author Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander seriesThe Fiery Cross.

Filming wrapped in November and Outlander fans don’t have long to wait now until the show returns.

Season 5 will premiere in the US on Sunday 16th February on Starz, with episodes debuting in the UK the following day on Amazon Prime Video.

The official story synopsis for Season 5 reads: “Establishing a home in the New World is by no means an easy task – and protecting it proves even more difficult – particularly in the wild backcountry of North Carolina during a period of dramatic sociopolitical upheaval.

“As Claire knows all too well, friends, neighbours and countrymen are unwittingly marching towards Revolution, with members of the elite ruling classes struggling to stifle the alarming undercurrent of unrest triggered by the Regulator Movement.

“Against this backdrop, which soon heralds the birth of the new American nation, Claire and Jamie are forced to ask themselves just how far they are willing to go to protect their home, and praying there will be no reason to light the fiery cross, an ancient Scottish call to arms.”

Starz has also unveiled the opening credits for the new season:

In other good news, a sixth season of Outlander has already been ordered by Starz!

Season 4 is available on DVD on Amazon.
