There’s an official ‘The Durrells’ cookery book featuring the real Louisa’s recipes

Are you missing The Durrells?

Based upon Gerald Durrell’s classic trilogy of Corfu memoirs, the 1930s family period drama premiered in 2016 and ran for 26 episodes.

While its final season aired last summer, fans can still get their Durrells fix by cooking in the style of the family with Dining with the Durrells: Stories and Recipes from the Cookery Archive of Mrs Louisa Durrell.

This official recipe book is written by David Shimwell, a close family friend of the Durrells, with an introduction by Lee Durrell and an afterword by Jacquie Durrell.

Dining with the Durrells uncovers Louisa Durrell’s original recipes for the scones, cakes, jams, tarts, sandwiches and more that are so deliciously described by the Durrell family in their writing.

Taken from the Durrell family archives, highlights include Louisa’s recipe for ‘Gerry’s Favourite Chicken Curry’ to ‘Dixie-Durrell Scones with Fig and Ginger Jam’.

The book also features family stories and photos!

The official synopsis reads: “…this book will transport you to long lunches enjoyed on the terrace of a strawberry-pink villa, sunshine-filled picnics among the Corfu olive groves and candlelit dinners overlooking the Ionian Sea.”
