‘Outlander’ star Sam Heughan once auditioned to play James Bond
It’s emerged that Sam Heughan was nearly 007 instead of Daniel Craig!
The new James Bond film, titled No Time to Die, is set for release next April and talk is already turning to who will replace Daniel Craig and what the future will hold for the franchise.
The 26th movie 007 movie is expected to arrive in 2022, marking 60 years since Bond first burst in to cinemas in 1962’s Doctor No.
No doubt the producers will be wanting to shake things up as they strive to keep 007 relevant for modern audiences.

Daniel Craig recently wrapped filming on his latest James Bond adventure and the 25th movie in the long-running spy franchise is expected to be the actor’s swansong.
The 51-year-old star took over the role of the world’s most famous secret agent nearly 15 years ago and made his debut in 2006’s Casino Royale.
But things could have been very different…
Scottish actor Sam Heughan, best known as Jamie Fraser in hit period drama series Outlander, has revealed that he was approached about playing Bond back following Pierce Brosnan’s final Bond movie, 2002’s Die Another Day.
He told Live with Kelly and Ryan: “I did audition for Bond a long time ago when they were redoing it with Daniel Craig when he was Bond 21.”
He recalled “They were going to go younger with him and it was a pretty good experience.”
Heughan added: “It’s about time we got a Scottish Bond.”
Of course, he wouldn’t have actually been the first Scottish 007, as Sean Connery was born in Edinburgh.
In the meantime, Heughan began shooting the fifth season of Outlander earlier this year and it’ll premiere on Starz in early 2020.
