PBS confirms when ‘Man in an Orange Shirt’ will be shown in the US
The BBC’s acclaimed mini-series Man in an Orange Shirt will air in the US next month, PBS has confirmed.
Written by best-selling British novelist Patrick Gale, the drama stars Oscar-winning actress Vanessa Redgrave as a grandmother struggling with her relationship with her gay grandson.
Originally broadcast in the UK last summer in two parts, Man in an Orange Shirt will air as a single two-hour film at 9/8c on Sunday June 17 on Masterpiece on PBS as part of LGBTQ+ Pride Month.
Two love stories, set 60 years apart, are linked by family ties, sexual identity and a mysterious painting.

The official synopsis reads: “Charting the challenges and huge changes to gay lives from the Second World War to the present, the two-hour film explores a forbidden relationship made impossible by illegality and societal pressure and contrasts it with present day romance which, while the external constraints have fallen away, is a minefield of internalized issues and temptations.”
The cast also includes Joanna Vanderham (The Paradise), Laura Carmichael (Downton Abbey), Julian Sands (A Room with a View), Frances de la Tour (The Collection), Adrian Schiller (Victoria), Oliver Jackson-Cohen (Mr. Selfridge), James McArdle (Salting the Battlefield), Julian Morris (Little Women) and David Gyasi (Interstellar).
