Sean Bean is returning for a second season of ‘The Frankenstein Chronicles’
Filming is underway in Northern Ireland on a new season of The Frankenstein Chronicles.
A terrifying re-imagining of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein set in 19th century London, the drama series launched on ITV Encore in the UK in November 2015.
The first season of The Frankenstein Chronicles aired in the US on A&E.
The six new episodes will see Game of Thrones and Sharpe star Sean Bean return as John Marlott – no longer a mere mortal, seeking revenge on Lord Daniel Hervey for taking his life.
Joining Bean will be Laurence Fox (Lewis), Ed Stoppard (The Musketeers), Maeve Dermody (And Then There Were None) and Richie Campbell (Liar).
Other returning cast members include Robbie Gee (Snatch), Ryan Sampson (Plebs), Tom Ward (Silent Witness) and Vanessa Kirby (The Crown).
The official synopsis for Season 2 reads: “Set in 1830s London, Marlott must operate outside the law as he comes up against dark forces in high society and in the dangerous slums of the over-crowded capital. In his pursuit of Hervey, Marlott takes on the establishment in the form of Robert Peel’s newly formed Police force and the Church.
“In the darkest corners of Georgian London, Marlott acts as defender of the poor and destitute as he fights to clear his name and bring Hervey to justice.”
