‘Ten Pound Poms’ future confirmed: Is Season 2 happening?

The BBC has made an announcement about the future of Ten Pound Poms!

Telling the story of a group of Brits as they depart 1950s England for a life-changing adventure in Australia, the series launched in the UK last summer to 7.7 million viewers.

Ten Pound Poms was a hit with audience and reviewers alike, with critics praising the “solidly enjoyable Sunday night drama.”

The first season recently won two Golden Nymphs at the 62nd Annual Monte Carlo Television Festival, with Warren Brown winning Best Actor for his role as Terry and the show winning Best Series.

We really enjoyed Ten Pound Poms, so we’re very happy to report that a second season has been officially confirmed today.

Brand new episodes will begin filming in Australia within the next couple of weeks.

“The positive viewer response to Ten Pound Poms was a true delight,” commented writer, creator and executive producer Danny Brocklehurst.

“We tapped into a little-known part of our recent history and told stories which reflected the realities of the real Poms that made the trip,” he said.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to be teaming again with the BBC, Stan and Eleven to continue our characters’ adventure down under.”

The new season is once again a co-production with Stan, who air the series in Australia.

Ten Pound Poms is another example of Stan’s commitment to authentic Australian screen stories, which resonate with audiences across Australia and around the globe,” said Stan’s Chief Content Officer, Cailah Scobie.

“We are so excited to welcome back our beloved characters alongside the new cast in their search for the Australian dream,” she added.

We won’t get an exact release date for a while, but hopefully Season 2 will premiere later this year on BBC One and streaming on BBC iPlayer in the UK, and on Stan in Australia.
