‘The Crown’ filming pics: First look at ‘Call the Midwife’ star as Camilla Parker Bowles

The first glimpse of The Crown‘s Camilla Parker Bowles has been revealed.

It was announced in October that Emerald Fennell will debut in Season 3 as Charles’ future wife Camilla.

She’ll star alongside The Durrells actor Josh O’Connor, who is playing Prince Charles.

The British actress is best known for her role as Patsy in Call the Midwife from 2013 to 2017.

She has also appeared in VictoriaThe Danish GirlAnna Karenina, The Lady Vanishes and Pan.

Here’s the first look at Emerald Fennell as Camilla:

The new season of The Crown began filming last summer and will see the show’s entire cast being replaced by older actors as the story moves further into the second half of the 20th Century.

Netflix’s award-winning period drama tells the story of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom.

Emerald Fennell previously commented: “I’m absolutely over the moon, and completely terrified, to be joining so many hugely talented people on The Crown. I absolutely love Camilla…”

She joked: “[I] am very grateful that my teenage years have well prepared me for playing a chain-smoking serial snogger with a pudding bowl haircut.”

Camilla Rosemary Shand, as she was then called, first met Charles in 1971, but when Charles departed to complete his service with the Royal Navy overseas in 1973, she married Andrew Parker Bowles in his absence.

It was confirmed earlier this month that The X-Files star Gillian Anderson is also joining the cast of The Crown as former Conservative Party leader Margaret Thatcher.

Season 3 will premiere on Netflix around the world later this year.

The Crown is available to buy on DVD on Amazon.
