‘The Inheritance’ drama series reunites two ‘Downton Abbey’ stars
Two of our favourite actors from Downton have been cast in a new TV thriller.
Robert James-Collier and Samantha Bond will star in Channel 5’s The Inheritance.
The pair played Thomas Barrow and Lady Rosamund Painswick in all six seasons of Downton Abbey.
Created by Doc Martin writer Aschlin Ditta, the four-part primetime thriller began filming in Ireland earlier this year.
Alongside James-Collier and Bond, the cast also includes a number of familiar faces.
You’ll definitely recognise Kevin Whately (Inspector Morse), Gaynor Faye (The Syndicate), Jemima Rooper (Gold Digger), Larry Lamb (New Tricks), and Pauline McLynn (Father Ted).
Also appearing are Adil Ray (Blithe Spirit), Moe Dunford (Vikings), and Kevin Harvey (Time).
The Inheritance tells the story of three siblings, Daniel, Sian and Chloe, whose lives are left in turmoil following the unexpected death of their Father.
“When it turns out they are not left anything in the will, they embark on a dangerous journey to figure out whether his death was truly a tragic accident, or whether it was in fact murder,” the official synopsis teases.
“So, a family who look harmonious and loving start to show the cracks borne of years of secrets and jealousy.
“Secrets are exploded, relationships ripped apart, and lives lost as the siblings try desperately to claw back their inheritance and make sense of what is happening around them…asking the question, is blood really thicker than water?”
“The complexity and twists and turns of this brilliant family drama excited us enormously,” said executive producer Adam Barth.
“Familiar characters coupled with the nightmare scenario of a long counted-on inheritance suddenly evaporating is something that will strike a nerve with all of us,” he added.
The Inheritance will premiere in the UK later this year on Channel 5.
James Bond actress Samantha Bond returned to our screens last week in Sky’s new comedy series Dreamland.
Meanwhile, Robert James-Collier can be seen in Netflix’s teen drama Fate: The Winx Saga, playing Saul Silva.
It’s just been announced that Downton Abbey star Phyllis Logan has joined the cast of Shetland!
Best known as Mrs Hughes, the actress is currently filming the crime drama’s eighth season in Scotland.
