‘Last Kingdom’ cast reacting to Season 5 renewal is so heartwarming – watch!

An adorable video has been posted online featuring the stars of The Last Kingdom.

Set in the late 9th century AD, when England is divided into seven separate kingdoms, the epic historical drama series is based on the Saxon Stories novels by Bernard Cornwell.

The Last Kingdom aired its a fourth season earlier this year and Netflix announced last month that the show has been renewed for another season.

In this lovely video, fans can now see the moment the cast were told about the confirmation of Season 5 by actor Alexander Dreymon, who plays Uhtred of Bebbanburg:

 

Filming on the fifth season of The Last Kingdom is planned to start in Budapest, Hungary later this year.

The ten new episodes will be based on the ninth and tenth books in Bernard Cornwell’s seriesThe Warriors of the Storm and The Flame Bearer.

Executive producer Nigel Marchant previously commented: “We had such a tremendous response to the last season, so are thrilled to be bringing it back for season five on Netflix. With such a loyal fanbase, we’re excited to give viewers a chance to follow Uhtred on the next stage of his quest.”

Season 5 is expected to premiere on Netflix in 2021.
