‘Sanditon’ and ‘Downton’ stars will lead ‘Time Traveler’s Wife’ adaptation
Two familiar faces from Downton Abbey have been cast in a new TV project.
Theo James and Rose Leslie, who played Mr Pamuk and housemaid Gwen in ITV’s hit period drama series, will head the cast of The Time Traveler’s Wife.
From the makers of Sherlock, HBO’s upcoming series is based on Audrey Niffenegger’s best-selling 2003 novel of the same name.
The book was previously adapted as a movie in 2009, starring Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams.
The Time Traveler’s Wife is being adapted by Scottish writer Steven Moffat, best known for writing Doctor Who, Sherlock, and Dracula.
Scottish actress Rose Leslie will play Clare.
The 34-year-old is best known for her roles in Game of Thrones and The Good Fight.
36-year-old English actor Theo James, who starred as Sidney Parker in Sanditon, will play time traveler Henry.
The book’s synopsis reads: “A most untraditional love story, this is the celebrated tale of Henry DeTamble, a dashing, adventuresome librarian who inadvertently travels through time, and Clare Abshire, an artist whose life takes a natural sequential course.
“Henry and Clare’s passionate affair endures across a sea of time and captures them in an impossibly romantic trap that tests the strength of fate and basks in the bonds of love.”
The Time Traveler’s Wife will premiere in the US on HBO in 2022.
Sanditon is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.
