Watch how incredible make-up transformed Gary Oldman into Winston Churchill in ‘Darkest Hour’
A fascinating new video has been released online taking a look behind the scenes at the making of Darkest Hour.
The 5-minute featurette explores the amazing make-up techniques used to make actor Gary Oldman look like British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in the award-winning British war drama.
Directed by Atonement director Joe Wright, Darkest Hour was nominated for six Oscars at last month’s Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and won for the awards for Best Actor and Best Makeup and Hairstyling.
Oldman reportedly spent over 200 hours getting make-up applied as Churchill during the filming of the movie.

Written by The Theory of Everything screenwriter Anthony McCarten, Darkest Hour follows Churchill as he faces a crucial moment against Hitler’s army at the start of World War 2.
