Watch the trailer for MGM’s new Robin Hood series
MGM has just released its much-anticipated Robin Hood series, and fans of the classic story are in for a treat. The iconic tale of the outlaw who “robs from the rich and gives to the poor” gets a bold reimagining in this new version of this classic English tale.
What is it about?
The story takes place in the turbulent aftermath of the Norman conquest. Robin Hood centres on Rob, a roguish and defiant Saxon forester’s son, and Marian, the spirited daughter of a Norman nobleman. As England struggles with a fractured identity and rising oppression, Rob and Marian come together to form an unlikely alliance — and an even more unlikely romance — as they rise up against the corruption and tyranny that has taken hold. Rob evolves into the charismatic leader of a band of outlaws in Sherwood Forest, while Marian navigates the treacherous world of court politics from within.

Who is in it?
The impressive cast includes Australian newcomer Jack Patten as Robin “Rob” Hood, Lauren McQueen as Marian, Sean Bean as the Sheriff of Nottingham, Lydia Peckham as Priscilla of Nottingham, Steven Waddington as the Earl of Huntingdon, Marcus Fraser as Little John, Angus Castle-Doughty as Friar Tuck, Henry Rowley as Will, and Connie Nielsen as Eleanor of Aquitaine.
The series was created for the small screen by John Glenn and Jonathan English.
