Watch the trailer for The Hardacres, the new 1890s period drama coming to Channel 5

Channel 5 has shared the  trailer for The Hardacres, a sweeping rags to riches story that follows the lives, loves and fortunes of the working class Hardacre family as they move from the fish docks to a vast country estate in 1890’s Yorkshire.

What is it about?

The Hardacres is a major new six-episode period drama made for Channel 5 from Playground, the production company behind the smash hit series All Creatures Great and Small. Filmed on location in Dublin and Wicklow, Ireland, the new series is based on CL Skelton’s best-selling series of novels ‘The Hardacre Family Saga Books 1 & 2’. 

It is a rags to riches family saga following the lives, loves and fortunes of the working class Hardacre family as they move from a grimy fish dock to a vast country estate in 1890’s Yorkshire. After an accident leaves the family without work and penniless, the Hardacres devise a radical business idea and quickly makes them rich beyond their wildest dreams. Suddenly thrust into the world of the upper classes, they are immediately met with snobbery from the masters and servants alike.

Who is in the cast?

The Hardacre family consists of Claire Cooper (Hollyoaks) and Liam McMahon (Warrior Nun) as loving married couple Mary and Sam Hardacre. Alongside, Julie Graham (The Bletchley Circle), stars as Mary’s mother, Ma, and their three kids, Joe, Liza, and Harry, are played by Adam Little (Ackley Bridge, Coronation Street), newcomer Shannon Lavelle and Zak Ford-Williams (Better).

When will it air?

The series will air on Monday 7th October at 9pm CHANNEL 5.
