Watch the trailer for the new Ralph Fiennes Vatican thriller ‘Conclave’

Focus Features has shared the trailer and confirmed the release date for the new Vatican thriller Conclave. 

What is it about? 

Conclave is a fictional imagining of one of the world’s most secretive events – choosing a new Pope. When the Pope dies suddenly, Cardinal Lawrence (Ralph Fiennes) is  the person tasked with overseeing this secret process amidst all of the political machinations and the fight for power. The most senior and powerful members of the Catholic Church are assembled in the Vatican to participate in the event. Soon Cardinal Lawrence realises that he is at the centre of a major conspiracy and stumbles on a secret that could threaten the very existence of the Catholic Church.

Who is in the cast?

Ralph Fiennes is joined by John Lithgow as Cardinal Tremblay, Stanley Tucci as Cardinal Bellini, Isabella Rossellini as Sr Agnes, Carlos Diehz as Cardinal Benitez, Lucian Msamati as Cardinal Adeyemi, Brían F. O’Byrne, Merab Ninidze, and Sergio Castellitto as Cardinal Tedesco.

Who is behind it? 

The film was directed by Edward Berger (All Quiet on the Western Front) and written by Peter Straughan (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy) and Robert Harris (Munich: The Edge of War). Filming took place in Rome and at Cinecitta Studios. 

When will it be released?

The film will be released in the USA on November 1, 2024 and on November 24, 2024 in the UK.
