‘House of Guinness’ arrives on Netflix this week
Brace yourselves for another incredible series from the mind of Steven Knight, the acclaimed writer behind multiple hit series such as Peaky Blinders and SAS Rogue Heroes. His latest Netflix series takes a deep dive into the dramatic lives of one of Europe’s most enduring dynasties: the Guinnesses: the Irish family behind the world-famous stout.
What is it about?
The story is set in the second half of the 19th century in the period immediately following the death of Sir Benjamin Guinness. Tension erupts between his four children, Arthur, Edward, Anne, and Ben, once the details of his will are revealed.
According to the official logline:
House of Guinness explores an epic story inspired by one of Europe’s most famous and enduring dynasties – the Guinness Family. Set in 19th-century Dublin and New York, the story begins immediately after the death of Sir Benjamin Guinness, the man responsible for the extraordinary success of the Guinness brewery, and the far-reaching impact of his will on the fate of his four adult children, Arthur, Edward, Anne, and Ben, as well as on a group of Dublin characters who work and interact with the phenomenon that is Guinness.
Who is in the cast?
The cast includes Master of the Air’s Anthony Boyle as Arthur Guinness, Enola Holmes’ Louis Partridge as Edward Guinness, Ballykissangel’s Dervla Kirwan as Aunt Agnes Guinness, Emily Fairn as Anne Guinness, and Fionn O’Shea as Benjamin.
James Norton will play Sean Rafferty, with Game of Thrones‘ Jack Gleeson and The Alienist’s Michael McElhatton as Byron Hedges and John Potter, respectively.

Who is behind it?
The Netflix series was created and written by Steven Knight, best known for Peaky Blinders, SAS Rogue Heroes, and ‘All the Light We Cannot See.’
The executive producers are Karen Wilson, Elinor Day, Martin Haines, Tom Shankland and Ivana Lowell. The series producers are Cahal Bannon and Howard Burch. Episodes 1-5 were directed by Tom Shankland and 6-8 by Mounia Akl.
When will it air?
Netflix will release all eight episodes of House of Guinness on September 25.
