Wicker: Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård star in unusual new period romance

Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård lead the cast of Wicker, a wonderfully strange new period fantasy that offers a combination of romance, comedy and fairy tale.

What is Wicker about?

Set in an old-fashioned coastal community, Wicker stars Colman as an unmarried Fisherwoman who has become an outsider in her village. Mocked by her narrow-minded neighbours and thoroughly tired of their judgement, she decides on a highly unconventional solution to her loneliness: she asks a local basket maker to create a husband for her out of wicker.

When her handmade partner comes to life, the Fisherwoman finally finds the companionship she has been denied. But their increasingly passionate relationship proves deeply unsettling to the conservative community around them, quickly provoking jealousy, disapproval and eventually chaos.

Who is in the cast of Wicker?

Skarsgård plays the extraordinary Wicker Husband, while Peter Dinklage appears as the Basket Weaver. Elizabeth Debicki plays the Tailor’s Wife, with Richard E. Grant, Marli Siu and Nabhaan Rizwan also among the cast.

The film opens in select US cinemas on October 23, 2026, before expanding nationwide on October 30.

A UK general release date has not yet been announced.
