Daniel Radcliffe hints at period drama TV series about Harry Potter’s dad

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has been chatting about possible new Wizarding World spin-offs.

The 29-year-old English actor played the title character for a decade in eight movies based on the novels by J. K. Rowling.

Currently promoting his new TBS series Miracle Workers, Radcliffe discussed the inevitable plans to remake the Harry Potter stories.

He told TV Guide: “I definitely think there will be another version of it within my lifetime.

“It will be interesting to see. At the moment those films have sort of a sacred varnish on them, but that will be worn away at some point… I’m just intrigued to see when that happens.”

However, Radcliffe was much more excited about the possibility of a TV series about the the Marauders.

In Rowling’s novels, the Marauders were a group of four classmates; Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, Sirius Black, and James Potter, who would become Harry’s father.

The four Gryffindors were pupils at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from 1971-1978, where they created the famous Marauder’s Map.

The Marauders later went on to fight in the First Wizarding War and participated in the original Order of the Phoenix.

Radcliffe commented: “I feel like there are other stories from that world that you could absolutely turn into a TV series, 100 percent. A series with the older generation, that could be very cool.”

We would definitely be keen to see a period drama TV series set at Hogwarts in the 1970s!

It was recently revealed that the third movie in the Fantastic Beasts series has been delayed.

The complete 8-film Harry Potter DVD box set is available on Amazon.
