‘The Crown’ returns: Netflix confirms release date for Season 3

Netflix has officially announced when the new season of The Crown will premiere!

Dramatising the reign of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, the award-winning period drama series launched in 2016.

The third season of The Crown began filming last summer.

The 10 new episodes will see the show’s entire cast being replaced by older actors as the story moves further into the second half of the 20th Century.

The Favourite star Olivia Colman is taking over the role of Elizabeth from Claire Foy, alongside Tobias Menzies (Outlander) as Prince Philip.

They’ll be joined by Josh O’Connor (Larry in The Durrells) as Prince Charles, Emerald Fennell (Patsy in Call the Midwife) as Charles’ future wife Camilla, Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) as Lord Louis Mountbatten, Jason Watkins (A Very English Scandal) as Prime Minister Harold Wilson, and Helena Bonham Carter (Harry Potter) as Princess Margaret.

Season 3 will be available to watch exclusively on Netflix from Sunday 17th November.

Season 4 is set to begin filming later this year and it’s already been confirmed who will be playing Princess Diana and who’s been cast as Margaret Thatcher.
