The first trailer for the ‘Downton Abbey’ movie has arrived – watch!

A sneak peek at the Downton Abbey movie appeared online over the “weekend” (whatever that is).

Continuing the story from ITV’s hit period drama series, the big screen spin-off finished filming last month.

The brand new one-minute preview features the first footage from the movie.

While it doesn’t give away any plot hints, or even show any of the characters, you can certainly tell that they’ve got a bigger budget this time around.

With sweeping aerial shots of the house and a new operatic rendition of the iconic theme tune, Downton has never looked so lavish!

The trailer also appears to confirm that the previously untitled movie will simply be called Downton Abbey.

Written by Downton creator Julian Fellowes, the film will see all the regular cast reprise their roles, with the exception of one big star.

The movie will be released in cinemas next autumn on Friday 13th September in the UK and on Friday 20th September in the USA.

An official Downton Abbey concert was announced last week and tickets are now available to buy.

Downton Abbey: The Complete Collection DVD box set is available on Amazon.
