The Diplomat S3 is now available to stream on Netflix

Netflix has released the third season of its hit political thriller starring Keri Russell and Rufus Sewell. Russell plays Kate Wyler, a diplomat who is initially set to accept a post in Afghanistan when the White House unexpectedly changes plans and reroutes her to the United Kingdom instead.

She arrives in London. accompanied by her fellow diplomat and former ambassador husband Hal, played by Rufus Sewell. The job will see Kate having to navigate major international crises, forge strategic alliances as well as handling the unwanted attention that comes with such a high- profile post. All this while trying to extricate herself from her crumbling marriage to the charismatic but meddling Hal, a former ambassador himself. 

What is Season 3 about?

According to the synopsis:

Ambassador Kate Wyler lives the particular nightmare that is getting what you want. She just accused Vice President Grace Penn of hatching a terrorist plot and admitted she’s after the VP’s job. But now the President is dead, Kate’s husband Hal  may have inadvertently killed him, and Grace Penn is leader of the free world. None of this slows Hal’s campaign to land Kate the vice presidency. Kate steps into a role she never wanted, with a freedom she never expected, an increasingly complicated friendship with Foreign Secretary Austin Dennison, and an unnerving bond with First Gentleman Todd Penn.

Keri Russell and Rufus Sewell are supported by returning cast members David Gyasi as Austin Dennison (UK Foreign Secretary), Ali Ahn as Eidra Park (CIA Station Chief in London), Ato Essandoh as Stuart Hayford (Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy), Rory Kinnear as Nicol Trowbridge (UK Prime Minister), Allison Janney as Grace Penn (US Vice President), Celia Imrie as Margaret “Meg” Roylin (Tory fixer), and Miguel Sandoval as Miguel Ganon (US Secretary of State). Bradley Whitford joins as Todd Penn (Grace Penn’s husband) alongside Poldark star Aidan Turner as newcomer Callum Ellis.

The series premiered on October 16, 2025 and is available to stream along with S1-2 on Netflix globally.
