‘All Creatures Great and Small’ reveals long-term future plans
All Creatures Great and Small fans will be overjoyed to hear that the show’s future has been confirmed.
Following the success of the recent sixth season, the producers have announced a double recommission!
Season 7 and Season 8 will give us another 14 episodes of the much-loved period drama.
Each season once again features six episodes and a Christmas special, promising us that All Creatures Great and Small will continue until at least the end of 2027.
Based on James Herriot’s beloved books, All Creatures Great and Small remains 5’s most successful drama series ever, reaching more than 14 million viewers so far.

Season 6 – which aired in the UK last autumn and began in the US last month – saw the story leap forward in time to 1945, finding the Skeldale gang somewhat scattered with James and Helen now living at Heston Grange farm, Tristan serving overseas, Mrs Hall away and Siegfried struggling to cope on his own.
“We frequently receive letters from viewers about how the show has brought joy, comfort and relief in challenging times,” commented executive producers Melissa Gallant and Sharon Moran.
They added: “Making television that has that effect and is beloved around the world year after year is the greatest privilege, and we’re thrilled to be continuing the All Creatures journey…”
“It’s a show which people love to watch and love to make and we can’t wait for more adventures in beautiful Yorkshire with our wonderful cast and crew,” the pair said.

5’s commissioning editor, Greg Barnett, has described All Creatures Great and Small as “a jewel in 5’s drama crown [which] continues to delight viewers year after year.”
He praised the show’s “warmth, humour and heart,” promising “more unforgettable adventures ahead for our Skeldale family.”
The cast are expected to begin filming the seventh season of All Creatures Great and Small in Yorkshire next month.
