Jane Austen parody show ‘Austentatious’ is back this autumn

Following their smash hit previous tours, the Austentatious gang are back on on the road!

If you’ve not seen the show before, Austentatious is an improvised comedy play conjuring up a brand new ‘lost’ Jane Austen novel every performance, all based on a title suggested by the audience.

A cast featuring some of the UK’s quickest comic performers are currently on tour until November, with the multi-award-winning troupe returning to Brighton Dome on Saturday 19th September where tickets are on sale now.

Other dates coming up includes performances in Cheltenham, Bournemouth and Birmingham – check out the full tour list here.

Austentatious commented: “We are thrilled to be travelling the length and breadth of the country, rediscovering the lost classics Austen wrote and promptly forgot about. From Northanger Tabby to Guardians of the Gallantry, there’s nothing Austen couldn’t do (as long as our audience keep thinking them up).”

Described as “a Regency treat guaranteed to delight Austen novices and die-hard fans alike,” Austentatious have completed seven sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe and also took part in a special to mark the bicentenary of Austen’s death on BBC Radio 4.

The troupe’s comedy talent includes Cariad Lloyd (QI), Rachel Parris (The IT Crowd), Joseph Morpurgo (Odessa), Amy Cooke-Hodgson (Alan Carr’s Spectacular), Andrew Hunter Murray (No Such Thing As A Fish), Graham Dickson (Below The Belt), Charlotte Gittins (Grand Theft Impro) and Daniel Nils Roberts (Racing Minds).

Previous ‘lost’ masterpieces have included ‘Double 0 Darcy’, ‘Game of Scones’ and ‘The Wickham Man’, and no two shows are ever the same!

The long-awaited second season of Sanditon, based on Austen’s unfinished final novel, is set to begin filming very soon.

ITV’s period drama series was saved from cancellation earlier this year following a huge campaign by fans.
