Jane Austen parody show ‘Austentatious’ heads out on UK tour this autumn
Fresh from their weekly residency in London’s West End, Austentatious is going on tour!
Featuring a cast of the country’s quickest comic performers, the show is an improvised comedy play conjuring up a brand new ‘lost’ Jane Austen novel every performance, based entirely on a title suggested by the audience.
The multi-award-winning improvised comedy troupe begin a 20-date tour around the UK next month, starting in Bristol.
Austentatious commented: “We are thrilled to be travelling the length and breadth of the country, rediscovering the lost classics Austen wrote and promptly forgot about. From Northanger Tabby to Guardians of the Gallantry, there’s nothing Austen couldn’t do (as long as our audience keep thinking them up).”
Described as “a Regency treat guaranteed to delight Austen novices and die-hard fans alike,” Austentatious have completed seven sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe and also took part in a special to mark the bicentenary of Austen’s death on BBC Radio 4.
The troupe’s comedy talent includes Cariad Lloyd (QI), Rachel Parris (The IT Crowd), Joseph Morpurgo (Odessa), Amy Cooke-Hodgson (Alan Carr’s Spectacular), Andrew Hunter Murray (No Such Thing As A Fish), Graham Dickson (Below The Belt), Charlotte Gittins (Grand Theft Impro) and Daniel Nils Roberts (Racing Minds).
