Jane Austen parody show ‘Austentatious’ is back on a stage near you

Following their smash hit previous tours, the Austentatious gang are back on on the road!

If you’ve not seen the show before, Austentatious is an improvised comedy play conjuring up a brand new ‘lost’ Jane Austen novel every performance, all based on a title suggested by the audience.

The cast, featuring some of the UK’s quickest comic performers, are currently on tour until November, with the multi-award-winning troupe returning to Brighton on Saturday 19th September at the Theatre Royal where tickets are on sale now.

Other dates coming up includes performances in Cheltenham, Bournemouth and Birmingham – check out the full tour list here.

“We are thrilled to be travelling the length and breadth of the country, rediscovering the lost classics Austen wrote and promptly forgot about,” the Austentatious team commented. “From Northanger Tabby to Guardians of the Gallantry, there’s nothing Austen couldn’t do (as long as our audience keep thinking them up).”

The revolving cast features a number of familiar faces from TV and radio, amongst them Cariad Lloyd (QI), Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Joseph Morpurgo, Rachel Parris (The Mash Report), Graham Dickson (After Life) and more.

Previous ‘lost’ masterpieces have included ‘Double 0 Darcy’, ‘Game of Scones’ and ‘The Wickham Man’.

It’s a cracking few months coming up for Jane Austen enthusiasts, with a brand new Sense and Sensibility movie in cinemas later this month, starring Daisy Edgar-Jones as Elinor, Esmé Creed-Miles as Marianne, and George MacKay as Edward Ferrars.

Then just in time for Christmas, Netflix’s much anticipated six-part adaptation of Pride and Prejudice drops on the streaming service on 3 December, with The Crown star Emma Corrin and Jack Lowden from Slow Horses playing Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy.

What a time to be a Jane Austen fan!
