The second part of ‘The Murder Room’ premiered at 9pm on Friday 12th May 2023 on Channel 5 in the UK and is streaming on Acorn TV in the US.

Here’s a plot recap:

Dalgliesh informs everyone that a second person has died. No one remembers seeing such a girl. Caroline shows Dalgliesh round a curious private flat which leads into the Murder Room.

Under questioning, Ryan says he saw Neville talking to Mrs Strickland on Friday, who spotted Ryan and gave him a menacing look.

It transpires that Marie Strickland used to work in Intelligence, where she had an affair with Felix Dupayne (the siblings’ father). She says that on the night of his death, she’d tried to tell Neville that she was his biological mother.

At the post-mortem, Kynaston finds a dried African Violet tucked into the victim’s bra. The same flowers are found in Tally’s cottage. The police tell Tally not to mention this detail to anyone.

The victim is identified as Celia Mellock, Victoria’s sister, and a former Swathlings pupil. Her fingerprints are found in the stairwell leading to the secret flat.

Tally finally recognises the voice of the man who knocked her off her bike: Lord Martlesham. He confesses to having had a clandestine relationship with Celia.

He tells Dalgliesh about something called the 98 Club: a society for people to meet and have anonymous sex. Under intense questioning, Caroline reveals that Muriel runs the 98 Club.

It later transpires that she is extorting its powerful members because of the dirt she has on them.

Dalgliesh and Miskin race to the museum find Tally gravely injured, having been attacked by Muriel. Muriel is arrested and eventually confesses to having killed those ‘arrogant’ people.

Dalgliesh is available to watch on Acorn TV with a free 7-day trial.
