US release of Season 9 of Grantchester!

We’ve got a US premiere date for the latest season of Grantchester!

Masterpiece have revealed when Season 9 will air in the US.

Series 8 of Grantchester in the US aired on PBS from 9 July 2023 to 13 August 2023. The UK release on ITV was delayed to early 2024 due to scheduling conflicts. The UK release on ITV ran from 11 January 2024 to 15 February 2024.

When’s the release date?

 Season 9 premieres on Sunday, June 16 at 9/8c on MASTERPIECE on PBS.

As previously announced, there are major changes in store for Grantchester. Series 9 will see Tom Brittney hand over the keys of the vicarage to newcomer Rishi Nair after five years playing Reverend Will Davenport. Rishi will take on the role of the new vicar Alphy Kotteram who will fill the void left by Will’s departure.  Rishi is already a well-known face to viewers of British TV, having played lawyer Sami Maalik in the soap Hollyoaks since 2017. He has also appeared in New Tricks and Whitstable Pearl in the UK.

This season will see Georgie blindsided by Will’s decision to leave Grantchester. The arrival of Will’s successor does not go well at first, but Geordie and Alphy soon overcome their differences and team up to tread the familiar territory of solving crimes and mysteries in the community. 

Rishi Nair said  “I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining Grantchester,” and “I’m really excited to get started and cannot wait for the Grantchester fans to meet Alphy and to see all that’s in store for him.”

What about the rest of the cast?

Robson Green will return as Geordie,and the rest of the regular cast are all reprising their roles too. Charlotte Ritchie (Ghosts) returns as Bonnie, alongside Tessa Peake-Jones as Mrs C, Al Weaver as Leonard Finch, Kacey Ainsworth as Cathy Keating, Oliver Dimsdale as Daniel Marlowe, and Nick Brimble as Jack Chapman.

What about the UK release date?

Unfortunately, we do not have a confirmation for the release date on ITV in the UK but we will let you know as soon as it is announced.
