Netflix has confirmed that there’s going to be a sequel to Enola Holmes.
The hit Netflix film starred Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown as the titular young detective and received positive reviews.
An incredible 76 million households watched Enola Holmes in the first 28 days of its release in autumn 2020.
It was officially announced yesterday that Enola Holmes 2 is going ahead!
Netflix revealed on Twitter: “The sequel is afoot!”
They added: “The adventure continues as Millie Bobby Brown & Henry Cavill return to the world of Enola Holmes, reteaming with director Harry Bradbeer & writer Jack Thorne on a second film based on Nancy Springer’s book series about Sherlock Holmes’ brilliant sister.”
Killing Eve director Harry Bradbeer and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child writer Jack Thorne did a brilliant job on the first movie, so it’s great news that they’re returning.
While Henry Cavill (Batman vs Superman) is confirmed to be reprising his role as Sherlock Holmes, it’s currently unclear if Sam Claflin (Peaky Blinders) and Helena Bonham Carter (The Crown) will be back as Mycroft Holmes and Eudoria Holmes.
Millie Bobby Brown is currently busy filming the fourth season of Stranger Things, so presumably the new Enola Holmes movie won’t be filming until this summer at the earliest.
The 17-year-old British actress commented: “I can’t wait to collaborate again with my Enola Holmes family. Enola holds a special place in my heart — she’s strong, fearless, intelligent and brave. I look forward to fans seeing how her journey continues!”
Enola Holmes 2 is expected to premiere exclusively on Netflix in 2022.
