MGM+ confirms ‘A Spy Among Friends’ release date in US – watch the trailer!
American viewers can finally see A Spy Among Friends soon.
ITV’s Cold War drama stars Damian Lewis (Homeland) and Guy Pearce (Memento) as real-life spies Nicholas Elliott and Kim Philby.
Based on the book by Ben Macintyre, A Spy Among Friends launched in the UK last December.

Described as an “epic telling of one of the greatest spy stories ever,” the six-part limited series reunites Damian Lewis with his former Homeland exec, Alexander Cary.
Alongside Lewis and Guy Pearce, the cast also includes Anna Maxwell Martin (The Bletchley Circle), Stephen Kunken (The Handmaid’s Tale), and Adrian Edmondson (The Pact).
When’s the US release date?
A Spy Among Friends will premiere on MGM+ on Sunday 12th March 2023.
If you’ve not heard of it before, MGM+ is the American premium cable and satellite television network formerly known as EPIX until that service rebranded in January.
The official synopsis reads: “In the wake of Kim Philby’s escape to Moscow, his closest friend in Britain’s Secret Intelligence Service (also known as MI6.), Nicholas Elliott, is under investigation by Mrs. Lily Thomas from the Security Service (MI5).
“Did he facilitate Philby’s escape because he’s also a traitor working for the Russians, or is it just that his judgement was clouded at a critical moment by their twenty-three year friendship?
“Or maybe, just maybe, he in fact had the last laugh having manipulated Philby to run to the bosom of the KGB for foreign intelligence purposes.”

Reviews were mostly positive when the series debuted on UK screens in 2022.
“Anyone who relishes the extended interrogations in Line of Duty will be mesmerised by this six-part series, which amounts to one long cross-examination,” praised the Daily Mail in their 5-star review.
“Don’t take your eyes off this star-packed espionage thriller,” said The Guardian, while The Telegraph wrote: “Damian Lewis and Guy Pearce are magnificent in a satisfyingly complex drama…”
