‘Bake Off’ reveals who’s replacing Matt Lucas as new host

The latest host of The Great British Bake Off has been officially revealed!

Following three years on hosting duties after replacing Sandi Toksvig in 2020, comedian Matt Lucas announced last December that he’d be leaving the show to focus on other projects.

Since then fans have been hotly debating who could join the Bake Off line-up in his place, and it’s very exciting to report that one of the most frequently suggested candidates has indeed been confirmed as the new host.

Channel 4 has announced today that Alison Hammond will join the famous tent for the next season of The Great British Bake Off.

The 48-year-old presenter has been held as a national treasure with daytime television viewers in the UK for years thanks to her often chaotic and always hilarious segments on This Morning.

She’ll be hosting Bake Off alongside returning co-presenter Noel Fielding and regular judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood.

Hammond previously appeared on the show as a baker in 2020’s Celebrity Bake Off.

“Finally I can talk about it! I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining The Great British Bake Off and can’t wait to meet this year’s bakers,” Hammond told Channel 4 today.

She added: “It’s a huge honour to be back in the tent and I can’t wait to get started.”

A fun video was shared on her Twitter account this morning to celebrate the news:

Bake Off executive producer Kieran Smith commented: “Alison has already proved herself to be a natural on Bake Off, maybe not as a baker, but as someone who brings an infectious warmth and humour into the tent and we can’t wait for this year’s bakers to meet her and Noel. Welcome to The Great British Bake Off… ”

Channel 4’s Chief Content Officer, Ian Katz added: “Alison is much loved, effortlessly funny and the owner of the best laugh in Britain. She was a huge hit when she appeared on Celebrity Bake Off and we’re thrilled to have her back in the tent.”
