BBC confirms a third series of the hit Death in Paradise spin-off Beyond Paradise

The BBC has confirmed that it has recommissioned Beyond Paradise for a third series and a Christmas special!

Beyond Paradise has become one of the UK’s most successful dramas since its launch in 2023, with episode one of the series drawing in 7.5 million viewers to date.

The second series finale aired on Friday last on BBC, an episode fraught with emotion for fans of Humphrey, Martha, and the residents of Shipton Abbott. This series also saw Esther work on a case that saw a robbery at the Shipton Abbott Museum, and Kelby and CS Charlie Wood’s professional relationship turned an interesting corner.

Throughout series 2, the Shipton Abbott police team continued to crack a whole host of baffling mysteries – including a murder during a murder-mystery play on a steam train, a fisherman lost at sea, a medium predicting an arson attack, and many more.

The series also explores the emotional topic of Humphrey and Martha’s journey to becoming foster parents,  and delves into the personal lives and challenges that face some of its supporting characters.

What are people saying?

BBC Director of Drama, Lindsay Salt, commented: “Beyond Paradise has become such a huge hit with millions of viewers across the UK. It’s a show that is absolutely on a roll, and we’re beyond pleased to bring more fiendishly clever mysteries from the Shipton Abbott team to the BBC,”

Tim Key, executive producer for Red Planet Pictures, commented: “The response to series two has been fantastic. So much love goes into the making of the show and we’re delighted that the audience have enjoyed it so much.  We can’t wait to get back to Shipton Abbott for another Christmas special and series to continue the story and learn more about our characters and the town they live in – I can promise that we’ll be making the viewers laugh, cry, laugh a bit more and then baffling them with a series of ingenious puzzles. There will also be a duck.”
