‘Call the Midwife’ stars reveal who’s the best bike rider in fun video – watch!

The makers of Call the Midwife have released a lovely little video to celebrate the new season.

Posted on the show’s official Facebook page, the two-minute clip answers “that most vital question for any midwife in our drama….. who is the best and the worst bike rider!”

The BBC’s long-running period drama series about a group of nurse midwives in the East End of London returns on BBC One this weekend.

Featuring eight brand new one-hour episodes, the twelfth season of Call the Midwife follows the recent Christmas special.

British viewers can also catch up on all 97 previous episodes on BBC iPlayer right now.

Nuns and midwives on bikes has been an iconic part of the show since the very first season back in 2012.

In a new behind-the-scenes video, Trixie actress Helen George reveals: “Twelve series and five months it took me to get used to riding one of these really old, heavy bikes!”

Megan Cusack, who joined the show as Nancy Corrigan in Season 10, joked: “People on Twitter have talked about my cycling getting better, which is really embarrassing, because that means it was very obviously bad at the beginning!”

But who is the most proficient cyclist on set?

And who’s the worst?

Watch the video here to find out which cast member isn’t allowed “anywhere near [a bike] anymore” – and who gets called ‘Wibbly Wobbly’…

It really does look like the cast have just as much fun making the series as we have watching it!

Season 12 will air at 8pm from Sunday 1st January on BBC One.

Set in 1968, the upcoming episodes could see some returning characters from the past, but we’ll have to wait to find out who.

The new season is expected to premiere in the US in early 2023.

Meanwhile, Call the Midwife star Laura Main, who plays Shelagh Turner, has given fans an update on the show’s future, discussing when the show might end.

Season 11 is available on DVD on Amazon.
