The hit period drama series about a group of nurse midwives in the East End of London returns later this month.

Based on the memoirs of Jennifer Worth, Call the Midwife first aired in January 2012.

Following significant filming delays due to the coronavirus pandemic, the show’s tenth season finally wrapped production earlier this year.

Watch the trailer:

Call the Midwife is back in the UK at 8pm on Sunday 18th April on BBC One.

Season 10 will premiere on US screens later in 2021 on PBS.

Set in 1966, upcoming story lines will include Ted and Violet’s new shop, the World Cup, and the possibility of a different habit for the nuns.

Watch the cast introduce the new season:

In the first of seven brand new 60-minute episodes, change is on the horizon in Poplar as Sister Julienne (Jenny Agutter) must determine whether a private clinic venture is a suitable workplace for the Sisters.

Meanwhile, Sister Monica Joan’s (Judy Parfitt) crisis of faith will continue to weigh heavily on her mind.

Call the Midwife writer Heidi Thomas revealed recently that they’re already working on the show’s next season, which is set to premiere in 2022.

Season 9 is available on DVD on Amazon.
