The new season of ‘Call the Midwife’ has finished filming!

The cast and crew of Call the Midwife have completed production on the next season!

Filming started this May on eight 60-minute episodes for 2024, which will welcome two brand new midwives to Poplar.

Following a brief break over the summer, Season 13’s seven-month shoot has now officially wrapped.

The news came from the show’s official Facebook page, which posted this emoji-filled announcement: “LATEST! It’s a wrap on Call the Midwife Series 13 filming!! 🎬🎥🎉🙌🤩🚲👶”

They also shared a lovely photo of actress Georgie Glen on set to celebrate the occasion:

“This wonderful shot of Georgie Glen (Miss Higgins) has just been sent to us live from the set of Call the Midwife, where the very final scene of Series 13 has just been completed!!” wrote the team on Facebook.

“We CAN’T WAIT to show you what we’ve been working on,” they added.

Following this year’s festive special on Christmas Day, the thirteenth season of Call the Midwife will premiere in the UK in January 2024 on BBC One, then in the spring on PBS over in the US.

In the meantime, we’re certainly going to be looking very closely at that clapperboard for clues about next year’s storylines!

Is that a gun we see? And a rocket? And a trip to the beach? And how is the tortoise involved? All will be revealed very soon.

Call the Midwife‘s Facebook page posted another very cute picture recently, featuring “the Turner children in their late-sixties finery.”

“We love seeing Alice (Angela) sharing a secret joke with April (May) while a curious Ned (Teddy) looks on!” they said.

“The Turner children are actually SUCH good friends on set, and always look out for each other, much to the pride of their fake parents Stephen McGann and Laura Main! ❤️ It was their last day on set, so there was much fun, and many hugs.

“They were taking part in a rather lovely sequence for episode 8….but of course you’ll have to wait to find out what that is.”

So adorable!

Fans looking for Christmas present ideas should consider Jennifer Worth’s original book that the series is based on, and there’s this wonderful official recipe book too!

Season 12 of Call the Midwife is available on DVD on Amazon.
