11 classic James Bond movies have just been added to Netflix USA
What better way to pass a freezing February than binge-watching old 007 movies?
American viewers with Netflix are in luck, as the streaming service added no less than eleven classic James Bond films this weekend, in addition to their previously announced titles for February 2019.
To help you decide which of the British secret agent’s adventures to watch, here’s a bit more information about each of the Bond movies that are now available on Netflix USA:
Goldfinger
This 1964 film established the Bond franchise formula (Shirley Bassey theme tune, ridiculous names for female characters, that Aston Martin) and sees Bond go up against powerful tycoon Auric Goldfinger, who plans to raid Fort Knox.
You Only Live Twice
Otherwise known as ‘The One with the Volcano’, the fifth Bond movie was released in 1967. Trivia fans will know that the script was written none other than Chitty Chitty Bang Bang author Roald Dahl.
Diamonds Are Forever
Sean Connery and his toupee returned for one final mission in 1971, trying out his Roulette strategies in Las Vegas as he takes on Blofeld once again.
Live and Let Die
The Saint star Roger Moore made his debut as 007 in this voodoo-infused 1973 adventure, co-starring Jane Seymour in her first screen role.
The Man with The Golden Gun
Rushed into cinemas just one year after Live and Let Die, Roger Moore’s second mission feels surprisingly cheap and hasn’t aged well, but it does feature Dracula legend Christopher Lee as assassin Scaramanga.
The Spy Who Loved Me
Bond was back on top form with this 1977 hit, which introduced Richard Kiel as iconic metal-mouthed henchman Jaws. It also has the best pre-titles sequence in the whole franchise, as Bond skis off the edge of a cliff.
Octopussy
Roger Moore was, frankly, looking a bit past his prime by 1983’s Octopussy, but the star is clearly having a great time regardless and that sense of fun is infectious for the viewer too, as Bond heads investigates a ring of smuggling circus performers in India.
The Living Daylights
Audiences found Penny Dreadful star Timothy Dalton’s gruff portrayal on 007 a bit too serious back in 1987, but fans of Daniel Craig’s Bond will find a lot to enjoy here.
The World is Not Enough
Pierce Brosnan hit his stride as Bond in his third movie. 1999’s The World is Not Enough opens with an action-packed boat chase down the Thames and features the franchise’s first female lead villain.
Die Another Day
We’re not going to lie, this one’s a stinker, for so many reasons. Oscar winner Halle Berry is totally wasted as the Bond girl, Madonna’s theme tune is terrible, and don’t even get us started on the invisible car.
Casino Royale
After the disappointment of Die Another Day, Bond took a four year break before returning in 2006 with Daniel Craig in the tux. Refreshing the franchise for a new generation, Casino Royale was a smash hit with audiences and critics alike.
