David Tennant and Jonathan Pryce join the cast of ‘The Thursday Murder Club’

Netflix has confirmed via the social media platform X that David Tennant (Dr Who), Jonathan Pryce (The Crown), Naomi Ackie (I Wanna Dance With Somebody), Daniel Mays (Fisherman’s Friends) and Henry Lloyd-Hughes (Indian Summers) have also joined the cast of the film adaptation of Richard Osman‘s best-selling novel, The Thursday Murder Club.

Who else has been cast?

Central casting for the film was announced last month, so they will join what Osman describes as the ‘insanely great’ cast that, so far, includes Dame Helen Mirren as a former spy Elizabeth Best, Pierce Brosnan as trade union representative Ron Ritchie, and Sir Ben Kingsley as psychiatrist Dr. Ibrahim Arif.

What is it about?

The film is about a group of friends in a retirement home who are brought together to solve the murder of a property developer.

Actor Daniel Mays confirmed via a statement on X:

‘Casting news and it’s a biggie! Thrilled to announce I’m joining the amazing cast of the screen adaptation of Richard Osman’s The Thursday Murder Club for Netflix UK.

Who is behind it?

The film will be produced by Steven Spielberg’s production company, Amblin and directed and written by Home Alone’s Chris Columbus. Netflix has bought the distribution rights to the film.

When can we watch it?

Filming of The Thursday Murder Club is beginning this month. There is no confirmed release date yet but we can expect to see it on Netflix in 2025.
