Irish drama ‘Death and Nightingales’ gets US premiere date and trailer

The BBC’s Death and Nightingales mini-series will air in the US next month.

The three-part Irish period drama stars Jamie Dornan (50 Shades of Grey), alongside Matthew Rhys (The Americans) and Ann Skelly (Red Rock).

Death and Nightingales is an epic tale of love, betrayal, deception, and revenge set in the Irish countryside in 1885.

Death and Nightingales premieres in the US on Sunday nights from 16th May on Starz.

Adapted from Eugene McCabe’s novel by The Fall creator Allan Cubitt, the series was first shown in the UK in 2018.

The official synopsis reads: “Growing up, Beth Winters (Ann Skelly) was caught between two warring parents, her Catholic mother Catherine having married her Protestant step-father Billy when she was already pregnant by an unknown Catholic man.

“On her 23rd birthday, her mother long dead, Beth has planned to escape the claustrophobic grip of Billy and their closed community by running away with charming, mysterious Liam Ward (Jamie Dornan). But with the hour of reckoning fast approaching, can Beth hold her nerve?”
