There’s now a ‘Downton Abbey’ escape room game in America!
Fans looking for the ultimate immersive Downton experience need look no further.
A Downton Abbey-themed escape room is currently open in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The officially licensed attraction lets fans “delve deep into the nooks and crannies of the servants’ hall as you race against the clock to prevent a massive scandal from ruining the Crawley family, and thus the future of Downton itself!”
The owner of Mystery Escape Room, Les Pardew, commented: “It’s like you’re visiting Downton Abbey as yourself but you’re actually part of the story. It’s like being in a movie. It extends the story.”
Pardew admits that it doesn’t look exactly like the Crawley’s home, but says it comes pretty close.
He explained: “We did try and find as much furniture as would could that matched what they had because we want people to feel like they’re actually entering the Abbey.”
The game takes around 60 minutes and can be played by 4-12 people.
Tickets are on sale now priced $34.95 and it’s open Monday to Saturday each week.
Mystery Escape Room is located in downtown Salt Lake City at The Gateway on Rio Grande Street.
Don’t worry if you can’t make it to Utah, as it sounds like NBCUniversal are keen to open more Downton Abbey escape room games elsewhere if this one is a hit.
Pardew told the Salt Lake Tribune: “They thought that they would test the waters with us.”
Following the huge success of the first Downton Abbey film, it looks like we should expect plenty more from the world of Downton over the next few years.
The Downton Abbey movie is available on DVD on Amazon.
