‘Downton Abbey’ actor has been cast as the new Batman!
The latest face of Batman will be familiar to British period drama fans.
Moviegoers are currently waiting to find out who’ll be playing the famous comic book character next on the big screen following Ben Affleck’s retirement from the role.
In the meantime, it’s been revealed that Iain Glen will be taking on the role in DC’s television series Titans.
Based on the DC Comics team Teen Titans, the show stars Brenton Thwaites (Maleficent) as Dick Grayson, aka Robin.
It was announced this week that Iain Glen will play Bruce Wayne, Batman’s alter ego, in the upcoming second season of Titans.
The Scottish actor is best known as Sir Richard Carlisle in Downton Abbey and Jorah Mormont on Game of Thrones.
Most recently he appeared in BBC mini-series Mrs Wilson.
The official description for his new character hints: “After decades of fighting crime as Batman, billionaire Bruce Wayne is just as driven to protect Gotham from evil as he was in his prime.
“Needing to reconcile his relationship with Dick Grayson, the duo hope to forge a new dynamic as Bruce tries to help his former sidekick and the Titans achieve success.”
The Downton Abbey movie arrives in cinemas this September, although Iain Glen is not expected to reprise his role.
While the film’s plot has been kept secret so far, a brand new trailer has hinted at some very special Royal visitors.
Season 2 of Titans is expected to debut on the DC Universe streaming service later this year.
