‘Downton Abbey Live!’ special is coming to PBS this weekend

If you’re struggling to contain your excitement for the Downton Abbey movie, this is for you!

With less than a month to go until the film arrives in cinemas around the world, PBS is airing a Downton Abbey special on Sunday night, live from New York City.

Hosted by ABC News’s Deborah Roberts, the live TV event will feature interviews with the cast, brand-new clips from the upcoming movie and a nostalgic look back at the most memorable moments from the hit period drama series.

Guest appearances are set to include Phyllis Logan (Mrs. Hughes), Lesley Nicol (Mrs. Patmore), Kevin Doyle (Molesley) and Harry Hadden-Paton (Bertie).

Joining them via Skype for for live remote interviews will be Elizabeth McGovern (Cora Crawley), Hugh Bonneville (Robert Crawley) and Downton creator Julian Fellowes.

PBS viewers from around the country will be able to contribute their own questions about Downton Abbey for the cast to answer!

Downton Abbey Live! airs at 9pm ET / 6pm PT on Sunday 18th August on PBS.

However, not all PBS stations will be showing the special, so check your local listings.

The Downton Abbey film will be released in the UK on Friday 13th September and in the USA on Friday 20th September.

The director has described the movie as “like a cross between Gosford Park and Downton Abbey, the series.”
