‘Downton Abbey’ star says the movie ‘ties up a lot of loose ends’

Robert James-Collier has described deciding to be in the Downton movie as “a no-brainer.”

The former Coronation Street actor played under-butler Thomas Barrow in all six seasons of the hit period drama series.

He’ll reprise the role later this year in the upcoming Downton Abbey movie, alongside almost all the other surviving characters from the show.

Discussing the decision to make the film, James-Collier told Metro: “…with shows like Sex and the City and The Inbetweeners having successful films, there was precedence there.”

He added: “Downton is an established brand now, so for me it was a bit of a no-brainer to do a film. And I’m glad they did.”

The 42-year-old Manchester-born actor has also hinted that the movie will finally feature a romance for Thomas.

He commented: “[The movie] ties up a lot of loose ends and I think there was a demand for it.”

The Downton Abbey movie will be released in the UK on Friday 13th September and in the USA on Friday 20th September.
