Four main ‘Downton Abbey’ actors are starring together in new World War 2 movie
There’s going to be something of a Downton Abbey reunion next year in a new period drama movie set in the Second World War.
Jessica Brown Findlay (Lady Sybil), Lily James (Lady Rose), Matthew Goode (Henry Talbot) and Penelope Wilton (Isobel Crawley) will all be starring in the upcoming big screen adaptation of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.
Based on Annie Barrows and Mary Ann Shaffer’s 2008 historical novel, the movie will see Lily James play journalist Juliet Ashton, who becomes intrigued by a secret book society established during the German occupation of the Channel Islands during World War 2.
Directed by Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire director Mike Newell, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society will be released in cinemas in 2018 – although we wouldn’t be surprised if that title changes before then!
The cast also includes Michiel Huisman (Game of Thrones), Katherine Parkinson (The IT Crowd) and Tom Courtenay (Little Dorrit).
Downton Abbey: The Complete Collection is available to buy now.
The Downton Abbey movie is expected to begin filming in early 2018, although there remains some doubt about which cast members will be appearing.
