‘Hotel Portofino’ confirms Season 2 premiere date on PBS

It’s been announced when Hotel Portofino returns in the US!

Adapted from JP O’Connell’s book, the glamorous period drama launched in 2022.

The series was a hit for on BritBox and PBS, with a second season order swiftly confirmed.

Hotel Portofino follows an elite yet dysfunctional British family who open a hotel for upper-class travelers on the magical Italian Riviera during the Roaring ‘20s.

The show has now been broadcast in over 55 territories around the world, in five continents!

Six brand new episodes began filming last summer in Portofino, Italy, with additional scenes shot on the coast of Croatia.

Natascha McElhone (Ladies in Lavender) and Mark Umbers (Home Fires) are reprising their roles as British expat hoteliers Bella and Cecil Ainsworth.

They’re joined by Oliver Dench (Pandora), Olivia Morris (RRR), and Assad Zaman (Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire), alongside additional returning cast members Elizabeth Carling, Louisa Binder, Carolina Gonnelli, Claude Scott-Mitchell, Louis Healy, Pasquale Esposito, Rocco Fasano, Daniele Pecci, Lily Frazer, and Lucy Akhurst.

Hotel Portofino became an instant hit with audiences worldwide and the second season will feature another heady mix of romance, intrigue, and dangerous ambitions,” executive producer Jo McGrath previously commented.

She’s also promised that “the stakes get even higher for both the guests and the hotel’s owners.”

When’s the release date?

Season 2 will premiere in the US on Sunday 15 October at 8pm ET across all PBS platforms.

The new episodes will also be streaming on all station-branded PBS platforms including PBS.org, and the PBS App, available on iOS, Android, Roku streaming devices, Apple TV, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV, Samsung Smart TV, Chromecast, and VIZIO.

It’ll be available to stream on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel too.

The official synopsis for tells us that “Season 2 begins in the summer of 1927 as Bella Ainsworth is still devoting all her energy into making Hotel Portofino a success.

“Having overcome earlier blackmailing threats from a local politician, the hotel is finally starting to prosper. Aside from her hotel duties, Bella is also concerned for her children — Lucian, whose marriage to Rose might be facing trouble, and Alice, who needs a break from her responsibilities at the hotel. Bella’s husband, Cecil, has not been seen since returning to England at the end of the previous summer.

“With Cecil’s unannounced return to Portofino, the messy private lives of her children, and an imminent visit from a travel guide that could make or break the hotel’s future, Bella has her work cut out to keep all the plates spinning.”

Season 2 already premiered in the UK and Australia earlier this year.
