Channel 4 has released the first images from The Couple Next Door!
Described as “a deliciously dark, psychological drama, exploring the stultifying claustrophobia of suburbia and the fallout of chasing your darkest desires,” The Couple Next Door began filming in England and Belgium earlier this year.
We’re told that the six-part series is “an addictive, emotional roller coaster and looks at how we never know what goes on behind closed doors.”
The show comes from Marcella writer David Allison, with the cast also including Australian actress Jessica De Gouw (Vienna Blood), and Alfred Enoch from the Harry Potter films.
The official synopsis tells us: “When Evie (Eleanor Tomlinson) and Pete (Alfred Enoch) move into an upscale neighbourhood, they find themselves in a world of curtain twitching and status anxiety.
“But soon find friendship in the shape of the couple next door, alpha traffic cop Danny (Sam Heughan) and his wife, glamorous yoga instructor Becka (Jessica De Gouw).
“As time goes on, these two couples get increasingly close to each other and one fateful night, become sexually entangled in a way that will change their lives forever…”
The Couple Next Door will premiere this autumn in the UK on Channel 4.
It’ll be airing on STARZ in the US and Canada, and on Lionsgate+ in Latin America.
“Evie is an exciting challenge for me – a girl whose world is turned upside down as she navigates devastating trauma, which isn’t helped by unresolved issues from her past,” Poldark star Eleanor Tomlinson previously revealed.
All five seasons of Poldark are available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.
